- ➤ Local volunteers in the Scarf Project knit hats, scarves and mittens for people in need. They met on Jan. 3, produced 670 items last year, and will continue working with local groups to distribute winter items. KJCT
- ➤ Since fall 2023, local volunteers of The Scarf Project have met monthly to knit and crochet winter items for community groups including Senior Engagement and Homeward Bound. They held their first meeting of 2026 on Jan. 3 and produced 670 items last year while welcoming new volunteers. KKCO 11
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ House Rep. Jeff Hurd backed a bill on Friday that would use federal grants to fund youth substance abuse prevention PSAs through the Department of Justice Bureau of Justice Assistance; the legislation—co-introduced with colleagues from other states—aims to help local governments educate young people about drug risks.
