- ➤ Mesa County Elections announced winners of the 2026 I Voted sticker contest to celebrate local youth art and civic pride. Winners Alyna Labrum, Rhett Behrman, Jacob Walden, and Amora Wilson will be honored at a Mesa County Commissioners public hearing on Jan. 13 at the Old Courthouse. Mesa County

- ➤ The Museums of Western Colorado & The Art Center partner to debut the 'Spider Woman & Trading Posts' exhibit that shows the evolution of Diné weaving, opening Jan. 17 at Museum of the West at 462 Ute Avenue and running until Mar. 21. KJCT

- ➤ Applications for the Universal Preschool Program are open through May to help eligible preschoolers while saving Mesa County families about $6 million a year, and providers now offer extended plus full-day options for working families. KKCO 11
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Crews are cleaning up about 9,250 gallons of oil spilled in West Douglas Creek after a tanker crashed on Highway 139 Monday — the spill affected BLM grazing land while public land remained unaffected and the EPA has not provided a cleanup end date. KKCO 11
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ CDOT and contractor KSK of Grand Junction will host an open house at the Palisade Recreation Center Gymnasium on Jan. 14 from 4 to 7 p.m. to gather public feedback on U.S. Highway 6 improvements, including a planned roundabout, with work scheduled between Jan. 19 and October. KJCT
