- ➤ Yesterday, a 10-year-old Make-A-Wish recipient served coffee at Dutch Bros in Grand Junction as part of a fundraiser donating $1 per drink to help grant wishes for sick kids. Carter Seely, a heart transplant survivor excited for his Make-A-Wish trip later this year (community support made it possible) inspired many. KKCO 11

- ➤ At VinCO Conference and Trade Show this week, CAVE named Aspen Peak Cellars as Winery of the Year, winemaker Kaibab Sauvage as Grape Grower of the Year and Richard McDonald as Friend of the Colorado Wine Industry. - ➤ Chef Josh Niernberg of Bin 707 Foodbar is named a James Beard semifinalist, with judging starting March 31 and winners in Chicago on June 15. Downtown, 626 on Rood closes Saturday, March 28 (its final day) as new owners plan an Italian restaurant opening in April. Grand Junction Daily Sentinel

- ➤ Federal officials released a draft EIS on Jan.9 outlining five management options for the Colorado River after current guidelines expire; states must agree by Feb.14 while experts warn some plans may not fully address future scarcity (climate change risks persist), impacting local water supplies. - ➤ Mesa County Public Health said it is business as usual with immunization requirements for schools and CDPHE urged parents to follow their child's doctor despite the federal guidance moving six vaccines to a shared decision-making category (local officials will monitor any future changes). SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Palisade High School senior Tobyn Trottier, a three-sport athlete at 285 pounds, placed second at the Western Slope Showdown on Dec. 13 and earned All-State honors in football. - ➤ On Saturday, Palisade Bulldogs went 5-0 at Bulldog Duals while Grand Junction wrestlers competed in the tournament.
