- ➤ Food Bank of the Rockies announced new Monday volunteer shifts, resuming after a two-year hiatus, to focus on grocery rescue and produce processing at its warehouse in Grand Junction; volunteers must register in advance and be 10 or older (family volunteer nights also occur bi-monthly). KJCT
- ➤ Timberline Bank has launched Timberline Mortgage and is offering home financing with plans to expand lending channels. The Lowell School Building welcomes two new businesses while St. Luke’s Episcopal Church prepares for its pancake supper on Feb. 17, and DMV offices will adjust services from Feb. 13 to Feb. 16. - ➤ Beatrice, a 10-year-old pit bull mix at Grand Rivers Humane Society, seeks a forever home. The senior dog will be showcased at an adoption event Saturday at Chow Down in the Redlands from 10 a.m. + 12:30 p.m. KKCO 11

- ➤ Orchard Mesa Elementary received a peace bench donated by Rotary members yesterday to support students managing emotions near the outdoor lunch and playground area — the bench is part of District 51’s effort to foster empathy. KJCT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ State regulators will hold a hearing this Friday in Grand Junction on a SNAP Healthy Choice Waiver that would limit purchases of sugary drinks — including soda, sweetened coffee, and iced tea — as the state reviews new rules. Local food access groups say the change may add confusion for families. KJCT
- ➤ Colorado State Patrol will conduct a Move Over enforcement operation tomorrow, Wednesday, Feb. 4, on Highway 24. Troopers will work with other agencies to educate drivers on the expanded law that calls for moving over or slowing down for all service vehicles. KJCT
