  • Grand Junction’s new Community Recreation Center at Matchett Park near Patterson and 28 1/4 Roads is nearing completion as indoor work and outdoor amenities progress, and the city will move parks and recreation staff and begin selling passes on-site this spring—previewing the facility ahead of its planned late 2026 opening.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel
  • Spotty, a 10-year-old spotted cat, is looking for a forever home at the Roice-Hurst Humane Society — she was relinquished along with her brother when their previous owner could no longer care for them and now has a half-price adoption fee as the society's Pet of the Week.  KKCO 11

  • Country Elegance Florist urges Grand Junction residents to order early for Valentine’s Day as the holiday falls on a Saturday (the first time since 2015). The locally owned shop plans to deliver bouquets and other gifts during the week for the best service.  KJCT
  • County Elegance Florist (owner Sandi Reynolds) urges locals to order Valentine’s arrangements early for guaranteed delivery before Saturday as the shop prepares to meet the rush ahead of this first Saturday Valentine’s Day since 2015.  KKCO 11
  • Francesca’s in Mesa Mall was confirmed to close after a planned progression of store closures was announced in mid-January; the location at 2424 U.S. Highway 6+50 currently marks all items down 25 percent, and no closing date has been set yet.  The Business Times
  • Timberline Bank launched Timberline Mortgage — a new division offering competitive, personalized home loans through the wholesale channel and aiming to expand its options soon — to strengthen local partnerships.  The Business Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ava Health will open its Crossroads Campus on Feb. 9 and hold a grand opening celebration on Feb. 20 from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at 2784 Crossroads Blvd in Grand Junction (offering a full continuum of care such as detox, stabilization, residential treatment, and outpatient services).  The Business Times
  • Intermountain Health St. Mary’s Regional Hospital is hosting a Heart Health Fair on Feb. 6 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in its lobby to kickoff National Heart Month; attendees can practice CPR, see AED demonstrations, and learn about heart care (experts share risk reduction tips).  The Business Times
  • Flu continues to spread locally — Mesa County Public Health is offering walk-in flu vaccines every Friday in February from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Public Health Clinic, and residents are encouraged to call for an appointment if needed.  Mesa County
  • Tender Gifts Birth & Wellness Center will complete its move into a new, larger space at 360 W. Park Drive (Suite 105) between Feb. 12-17, adding amenities like three birthing tubs, an ultrasound room, and event space as it prepares to offer primary care services soon to serve Medicaid clients.  The Business Times
