  • Rob Eggebrecht, co-founder of Cloudrise, launched EggNest.ai last October to help local businesses adopt AI securely using the Glean platform — the service has grown to 15 staff and completed several deployments in healthcare and professional sectors.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel
  • ARC — a local thrift store founded in 1968 — has recycled 1.6 billion pounds of donations, collected 4 million pounds of food, and employs 600 people with intellectual disabilities while offering ARC University classes on practical skills. CULTURE NEWS

  • The Banff Mountain Film Festival returns next week — Feb. 11 to 14 — with adventure films at CMU, the Egyptian Theatre in Delta, and Avalon Theatre in Grand Junction, donating proceeds to eight local nonprofits while featuring a guest appearance by Colorado director Josiah Jones on Feb. 14.  KJCT

  • The state House passed a bill allowing retired education executives to return without losing benefits, helping fill teacher shortages in rural districts including Grand Junction. The measure now heads to the Senate for further action.  KJCT

  • Homeowners are receiving higher tax bills after a state tax break expired; some report rates nearly 35% more+ they now must adjust budgets until lawmakers consider relief next tax season.  KJCT

HEALTH NEWS

  • Montrose Regional Health expanded its cardiology services across the Western Slope by adding new providers and advanced technology at seven locations (Delta, Gunnison, Cortez, Telluride) during Heart Health Month. Hospital officials say the expansion will improve rural access to care.  KKCO 11
  • Mesa Public Health partners with Hilltop to launch a Health Access Program that offers free help with choosing and enrolling in health insurance for community members every second and fourth Thursday from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Health and Human Services Building.  KJCT
  • Ava Health will partially debut its new $5.4 million behavioral health continuum on Monday, Feb. 9, at its flagship office at 2784 Crossroads Blvd. — The service aims to ease transitions in mental health and substance use care and will expand mid-March.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel
  • Intermountain Health hosted a Heart Health Fair at St. Mary’s to help locals learn how to lower their heart attack risk during National Heart Health Month; the event offered blood pressure checks, CPR practice, and nutrition education.  KJCT

  • After five months of waiting, a new Pecos League team will bring semi-professional baseball back to Suplizio Field this summer with an 18-game schedule.
