- ➤ City crews made progress on the new recreation center over the holidays by installing gym equipment and cabinets — work has begun on the building’s western side. The two-level facility will include pools, a gym, climbing wall and outdoor turf and is expected to open late 2026. KKCO 11
- ➤ The 18th annual Sweetheart Run drew a record 500 runners Saturday along Fruita's trail system, starting at the Fruita Community Center. The event — featuring adoptable dogs offering puppy kisses — helped raise funds for center programs. KJCT

- ➤ Jessica Chevalier’s 'Grand Valley Vintage' won the Colorado Mountain Winefest Art Contest & will be featured on promotional items and in a national campaign for the 35th anniversary. The winefest will take place on Sept. 19 at Riverbend Park in Palisade. Grand Junction Daily Sentinel

- ➤ CDOT crews will scale rocks in De Beque Canyon Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 9 and 10, causing lane closures on I-70 to reduce rockfall risks. Meanwhile, Palisade drivers face a week-long Elberta Avenue closure with detour routes as part of the US 6 safety project. Grand Junction Daily Sentinel
- ➤ BLM is proposing new oil and gas rules to let companies combine production from many leases (commingling) using modern metering technology.
