- ➤ In 1889 a Colorado company from Grand Junction planned a railroad linking the city to California, but leader Frank Brown drowned in Marble Canyon and engineer Robert Stanton pressed on despite deadly rapids + damaged boats. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ BLM has opened a public comment period on a proposal to lease over 160,000 acres—mostly in northwest Colorado—for oil and gas, with comments accepted through Mar. 13. The plan affects acreage in Moffat, Rio Blanco, Garfield, and Mesa counties. Grand Junction Daily Sentinel

- ➤ The residential real estate market slowed in January with 142 home sales and $61.9 million in volume, down 11.8% and 19.3% respectively from January 2025.
