- ➤ AbleLight acquired Ohana Supportive Services on Feb. 24 to expand care for individuals with developmental disabilities in Mesa County. The partnership will hold an open house tomorrow, March 5 (3-6 p.m.) at two Grand Junction locations to showcase the new workshop-to-retail model. The Business Times

- ➤ Wendy’s at 750 1/2 Horizon Drive reopened after closing for several months following an August 2025 kitchen fire. The restaurant replaced nearly all its equipment and now serves customers as usual. The Business Times
- ➤ Brigitte Sundermann was named Citizen of the Year by the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce on Feb. 27 at the Convention Center, honoring her work in linking technical training with industry support. - ➤ Grand Junction-based Sky Peak Technologies launched a regional survey to gauge the AI readiness and operational challenges of small- and mid-sized professional firms in Mesa County and nearby areas. - ➤ At a Feb. 18 council meeting, Mayor Cody Kennedy said Grand Junction Regional Airport's enplanements increased by 13.6% to 318,106 in 2025, beating the 9% forecast. Total passenger traffic reached 639,762 as scheduled seat capacity also grew 5.6%. The Business Times

- ➤ Riverside Education Centers marks 20 years of support for students and families across Mesa County and will host a community open house this July to reconnect with alumni, partners, and neighbors while launching its $20 for 20 Years giving campaign to fund future programs. The Business Times
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mesa County removed most dense tamarisk at Clifton Nature Park in February to restore native habitat along the Colorado River. Work on lower density areas will continue over the next year (volunteers will help with spring planting) to enhance open spaces. Mesa County

- ➤ Mesa County Public Health is accepting residential burn permits for the spring season in Grand Junction through April 30 and for the rest of the county until May 31; residential permits cost $25 and support local fire-protection districts. The Business Times
- ➤ The state seized The Modern Nomad at 419 Main St. for $23,462.42 in unpaid taxes, and a Notice of Public Sale was posted on Feb. 23 (sale details are TBD). The Business Times
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Community Hospital will begin an 11-month expansion project this month that will modernize its surgical department and add two operating rooms (in a new 12,400 sqft space with a state-of-the-art sterile-processing area).
