  • HopeWest is seeking volunteers for hospice care, palliative support and a new summer grief program for children; roles include patient care, companionship and shifts at the downtown HopeWest Heirlooms store (training is provided).   • Breeze Airways celebrated its two-year milestone at Grand Junction Regional Airport and now offers five weekly flights to Orange County and one to Las Vegas — expanding travel choices for residents. ECONOMY NEWS

  • Gas prices in Grand Junction have climbed to an average of $2.82 per gallon—a 22-cent rise in the last week. Petroleum analyst Matt McClain said prices may climb another 10+30 cents per gallon in the coming days amid tensions in the Middle East.  KKCO 11

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City Council passed a lease allowing CMU to build a new football facility at Stocker Stadium and use the Lincoln Park Barn exclusively; CMU will invest $300,000 annually + uphold public access to other stadium areas.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel
  • Mesa County commissioners approved an agreement with RockSol Consulting Group for construction management and testing of Orchard Avenue Phase 1, which will rebuild a two-lane stretch between 29.5 Road and Warrior Way (including improvements for pedestrian safety near a busy intersection). Construction is expected to begin in late April or early May.  KJCT
  • The Grand Valley Irrigation Company and Bureau of Reclamation are upgrading the headgates of the Grand Valley Canal in Palisade this winter to improve water delivery. HEALTH NEWS

  • The Colorado Department of Human Services today highlighted a free online tool on MINDSOURCE’s website that helps local residents spot signs of past brain injuries during Brain Injury Awareness Month. The screening sends a tip sheet and connects users to free supports+ was used by over 1,200 people last year.  KKCO 11
  • Between Feb. 19 and March 4, Mesa County Public Health inspected restaurants from Loma to Collbran and found 48 passed while six required follow-up inspections—Ginger Restaurant failed re-inspection twice—and no establishment was shut down.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel
  • Thad Respet (Sky Canyon Veterinary Hospital) warns pet owners to secure household toxins as pet poisoning cases are common near the holidays, and advises calling a veterinarian immediately if pets show signs like erratic behavior or reduced energy.  KKCO 11
  • The Colorado QuitLine helps residents quit tobacco with free nicotine replacement and up to $100 in cash incentives for finishing five phone coaching calls. Residents aged 18 and older can enroll online (or call 1-800-QUIT-NOW) to join the program.  KJCT
