- ➤ Palisade is one of 20 small towns nominated for USA Today’s 2026 Readers Choice Awards, according to Mayor Greg Mikolai. He urges residents to vote on every device available + help boost local tourism. Grand Junction Daily Sentinel
- ➤ Meals on Wheels Mesa County will switch sponsorship to Volunteers of America Colorado effective April 18, ending a 36-year partnership with Intermountain Health St. Mary’s Regional Hospital. - ➤ The Palisade branch of Mesa County Public Libraries is set to reopen in April after months of ceiling repairs that forced its closure on Nov. 12. - ➤ The Colorado Tourism Office will send $20,000 to Grand Junction for a study on tourist trends including travel, lodging and visitor motivations. Director Elizabeth Fogarty said the study (comparing past and present research) will guide future decisions to support tourism and the local economy. Grand Junction Daily Sentinel
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mesa County commissioners approved an agreement up to $108,691 with Wright Water Engineers to test water quality in streams north of the Colorado River; the agreement will help guide efforts to protect stream health (including monitoring selenium, iron, and E. coli). - ➤ Mesa County WIC expanded its food options by adding 18 new cereals + whole grains such as quinoa + more plant-based milk alternatives, and it offers nutrition education and breastfeeding support for eligible pregnant women, postpartum mothers and children up to age 5 as part of National Nutrition Month.
