  • Construction began at 5th and Main as the city removed a non-operational fountain to create a ship-themed play area featuring a play mound with turf, slide, interactive sidewalk games — the project will complete in May and is expected to boost downtown activity.  KJCT

  • On March 25, Hilltop’s Fountains Senior Living Home hosted a birthday party honoring five centenarian women, including residents who turned 100 and 101 and one who will turn 104 in April. The event celebrated their milestone birthdays and lives of community contribution.  KKCO 11
  • Jersey Mike’s restaurants contributed all Wednesday sales to support Team Colorado athletes for the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games this summer as part of the chain’s 16th annual Month of Giving (the local Grand Junction location raised nearly $15K last year).   • GJEP released its 2025 economic report this week, calculating a $194.9 million impact in Mesa County and 224 net jobs, with nearly 943 potential jobs from Morgan Mining’s relocation — the report projected growth in health care, government and educational services as mining and ag sectors declined.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Bringing Music to Life is accepting donated instruments from locals through April 5 to support youth music programs, with schools required to apply by April 1 and refurbished instruments set for distribution in August.
