ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A rollover crash occurred on I-70 near Grand Junction Thursday night at about 11 p.m.—a Toyota Sequoia rolled into the center median and caught fire while its driver, who was driving under the influence, was taken immediately to Saint Mary’s Hospital with minor injuries. KKCO 11

- ➤ The 10th annual Cesar Chavez Celebration was held at Las Colonias Park on March 29th and featured food trucks, vendors, music, and a car show to honor the activist who fought for farm and union workers. Organizers noted the event has grown from a small Lincoln Park barn gathering—now expanded into a large community event—emphasizing unity and a break from daily stress. KJCT
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Mesa County’s Grand Valley Stewardship Crew will expand its work using a $300,000 Great Outdoors Colorado Grant to improve trails, control invasive species and boost outdoor recreation. - ➤ Coffman Road just north of Whitewater will be widened and replaced starting Monday and is expected to finish in October—county officials said a section of the road will be fully closed during work, with detours set on 31 Road, Hookless Boulevard, and parts of Coffman Road near the Old Spanish Trail. - ➤ Colorado Parks and Wildlife honored longtime employee Jenn Logan — the assistant native aquatic species coordinator — with the Upper Colorado River Endangered Fish Recovery Program’s 2025 Researcher of the Year Award for her work protecting endangered native fish. Grand Junction Daily Sentinel
- ➤ Mesa County officials said that Coffman Road north of Whitewater will be closed for construction starting Monday — the road will be widened and replaced with work set to continue through October. Officials noted that the project will run Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. with possible work on Saturdays and detours via 31 Road, Hookless Boulevard, and affected parts of Coffman Road near the Old Spanish Trail. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A study by researchers at the Colorado School of Public Health found that children with leukemia were more likely to live near oil and gas well sites—with risk highest within 3 miles—than children without the disease. The research, which analyzed cases from 2002 to 2019 and controlled for factors like birth weight and other pollution sources, suggests that current setback regulations may not sufficiently protect children's health.
