- ➤ Mesa County Search and Rescue rescued a dog at Colorado National Monument after it jumped from its owner's car during a visit and fell over 100 feet before landing on a shelf — rescuers used a rope to save the animal. KKCO 11

- ➤ Bin 707 chef Josh Niernberg became the first Grand Junction chef to progress from the semifinals when he was named one of five finalists in the outstanding chef category at the James Beard Awards, competing against chefs from New York City, Tulsa and Somerville.
