ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On April 4th near 4:57 p.m., firefighters responded to a weed fire on the 370 block of Rosevale Road that spread to nearby fencing and unoccupied camp trailers—crews established a water supply, temporarily closed the road, and removed burning materials as they investigated the cause with no injuries reported.  KKCO 11

CULTURE NEWS

  • Clifton Library unveiled its new mural on April 5 — commissioned by the Colorado Area Health Education Center and led by artist Jeremy Velasquez. The mural shows local outdoor scenes — like river play, mountain biking and farming — and supports mental health as one of the last touches for the library.  KJCT

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Local chef Kalyn Lapidus of Blooming Palate will host weeklong cooking camps for children starting in late May and running through June. The camps for ages 4 to 7, 8 to 11 and 12 and up will teach kitchen safety, knife skills and basic nutrition in small groups that give each child plenty of chef time—helping kids build cooking confidence.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel
  • Western Slope seniors were selected as Daniels Scholars after meeting academic and leadership criteria required by the program that covers full tuition at partner colleges; three recipients are from Fruita Monument High School and two are from Caprock Academy.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Grand Junction will start construction on a new roundabout at Horizon Drive and G Road/27½ Road Monday to address safety concerns with left-turning vehicles — the project is funded by city bonds and a state grant and is expected to finish in October while keeping business access open.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel
