- ➤ James Daniel Bishop, suspected in Dale Williams’s disappearance in May 1999, was released from custody by the Montrose County sheriff after his October 2024 arrest; 7th Judicial District District Attorney Anna Cooling said she dismissed the case (without prejudice) so it can be refiled (if new evidence arises). - ➤ Grand Junction residents say local elections matter because they let independent candidates make headway and stress the need to research issues—voters can drop off ballots or vote in person at Mesa County Central Services at 200 S. Spruce Street by 7 p.m. today. KKCO 11
- ➤ City water crews will begin a two-week hydrant testing program on Monday, April 14—starting in Orchard Mesa and ending at 29 Road and Orchard Avenue. Homeowners may see discolored water during daily flushing from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.—a normal part of maintaining water quality. City of Grand Junction
- ➤ Grand Junction City Council voted unanimously on April 2 to change impact fee policies that raise fees on new developments to support parks, fire, police and transportation. The fees will increase in six steps starting Jan. 1, 2026—and they will adjust with inflation as city staff and officials balanced infrastructure needs with housing cost concerns.
