  • On Tuesday, the Grand Junction Fire Department quickly extinguished an engine compartment fire in an RV in Orchard Mesa & ensured the driver and two dogs evacuated safely with police assisting with traffic control.  KKCO 11

  • Matt Cesario from Triple Play Records outlined plans for Record Store Day in Grand Junction, promising special in-store promotions and unique music offerings. More event details are expected to be shared soon.  KKCO 11

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Young Entrepreneurs Academy students (after months of planning) pitched business ideas to local investors at a Grand Junction Chamber event, gaining real-world feedback and potential funding. The program, running from January through June, helps students learn how to launch a business.  KJCT
  • Central High School students participated in Mesa County's first mock election today to learn steps of ballot casting, signature checking & vote tabulation. Mesa County clerk Bobbie Gross said the exercise prepares juniors and seniors to vote once they become eligible, with plans to extend the program to more schools.  KKCO 11
  • Students from the Grand Junction Area Chamber of Commerce’s Young Entrepreneurs Academy presented business ideas to local investors during a recent pitch event after months of market research, budgeting, and marketing plan development.   • A sudden freeze is expected this weekend to drop temperatures into the 20s and risk damaging early spring plants in Grand Junction and the western slope. Experts advise covering or moving plants indoors for protection.  KJCT
  • A hard freeze threatens spring plants across the Western Slope this weekend as temperatures fall into the 20s, risking gardens and crops after weeks of warm weather spurred early growth. GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mesa County Workforce Center celebrated two team members after they received awards at a recent summit in Denver; Jeana Brown was honored for customer service and Victor Carreras for career expertise + his nearly two decades of experience supporting job seekers.  Mesa County
  • CDOT lowered the curb on U.S. 6 in front of the Clifton Fire Protection District station to help emergency vehicles cross safely. CDOT and Clifton Fire monitored the project since last year and warn that the curb is not for public use.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel

HEALTH NEWS

  • The American Red Cross reminds families today that drowning is a leading threat for children ages one to four as warmer weather brings more pool, lake, and river visits; it advises constant supervision, water classes, and safety measures (like wearing lifejackets) to lower risks.  KJCT
