- ➤ Today, volunteers will clean the Colorado River by picking up trash and debris along its banks in Grand Junction. Gear Junction organizes the event—supported by local groups—to help maintain safe drinking water and healthy habitats. KJCT

- ➤ The 2025 Grand Valley Job Fair will be held on April 24 at Grassy Loop in Lincoln Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature over 80 local employers from various industries with food trucks and mobile training labs available — job seekers are encouraged to bring their resumes and dress professionally for recruiting specialists. - ➤ Jamie Brown of Grand Junction was named to the 2024–25 winter term president's list at Oregon Institute of Technology in Klamath Falls. Fruita Monument High School student Johnathan Overbye is one of five Colorado students awarded a $2,000 Steve Westhoff Scholarship from SGM and will attend Colorado School of Mines to study mechanical engineering. - ➤ The Regional Transportation Planning Office is seeking public input on the draft 2050 Regional Transportation Plan — which outlines transportation goals, objectives, and projects for Mesa County. The public comment period will close Monday, April 28 at the Grand Valley Regional Transportation Committee meeting. Mesa County
- ➤ Grand Junction City Council decided to use the water enterprise fund to pay for privately owned lead pipe replacements instead of having residents pay, saying this move will save money and prevent extra water testing. The project will start this summer on Ouray Avenue between 7th and 12th Street— officials say repairs will take only a few hours. KJCT
- ➤ CDOT warns drivers that cannabis DUI penalties and fines will be the same as for alcohol DUI — and that passengers may not smoke or vape in vehicles. The agency advises waiting at least 6 hours after smoking or 8 hours after consuming marijuana before driving to reduce risks. KJCT
- ➤ For the week of April 21, utility work on Crosby Ave. will close the road from Main to W. Gunnison for utility relocation until May and detours will begin April 23 as roundabout construction at Horizon Dr. and G Rd. and lane closures at 27 1/2 Rd. are implemented—additionally, CDOT’s I-70 Business Loop project will close 2nd and 3rd St. between Ute and Pitkin with adjusted business access to support construction. - ➤ Housing Resources of Western Colorado partnered with the City of Grand Junction and the state to fund a $65,000 down payment loan that has no interest or monthly payment and is repaid when the home sells in 10 or 30 years—this program is available to owner-occupants who meet income limits ranging from $79,200 for one-person households to $113,040 for four-person households and may be used on townhome units at Caspian Way or other homes.
