  • On Saturday, Girls on the Run Western Colorado’s Spring 5K drew 1,200+ runners in Fruita to celebrate the end of an eight-week training program that built confidence and teamwork. Organizers said additional races will be scheduled later this year.  KJCT

  • A revised merger application from Union Pacific and Norfolk Southern shows no increase in Grand Junction train counts, dropping the earlier forecast of a 20% rise — new data from competing carriers drove the change.   • Officials in western Colorado warn that conditions following a 100-acre fire near Collbran signal a risky summer amid low snowpack and drought.   • Attorney General Phil Weiser announced Friday that a $7.4 billion settlement with Purdue Pharma is now effective and will provide $75.6 million for Colorado. Purdue’s manufacturing was transferred to a new company — one that cannot market opioids, with independent monitoring in place.  KKCO 11

  • Drivers in Grand Junction should expect road closures on 25 Road between Blichmann Ave & Waite Ave for the Four Canyon Parkway project, plus lane closures on Patterson Road this week. A roundabout construction will begin at South Broadway and 23 Road later this month.  KKCO 11
