- ➤ Colorado West Land Trust & the City of Grand Junction will host a chainbreaking event on May 20 at 4:30 p.m. at Lunch Loops Trailhead to celebrate the final phase of Monument Trail, featuring food trucks & a group ride that marks the new connection between the Colorado Riverfront and red rock landscapes; the event was moved from May 2 due to construction delays. - ➤ United Way hosted a bike repair clinic on May 6 at the Grand Junction Resource Center that taught underprivileged and unhoused community members how to repair bikes and keep them in good condition—seven donated bikes were available for the attendees to take home. KJCT

- ➤ Fortunato Fitness Club moved to its new 4,200-square-foot space at 616 E. Grand Ave on April 27 after its old location at 743 U.S. 6 was sold—members helped move equipment and complete setup. - ➤ In late April, four experienced local brokers formed Venture Group, a new boutique firm offering commercial real estate services including property valuation, market analysis, leasing negotiations and business brokerage. - ➤ A Grand Junction man, Dusty Moore, 34, has been arrested and charged with human trafficking for allegedly molesting a child over several years and bribing the victim with money and gifts—he was set a $500,000 cash bond and cannot contact minors or leave the state until his next court appearance on May 13. - ➤ Mesa County, the Upper Grand Valley Pest Control District and CSU Tri-River Extension Office are alerting homeowners and orchard producers about codling moth larvae that tunnel through apples—rendering them inedible. They advise using pheromone traps and preventive measures like thinning fruit or bagging individual apples to control infestations. KJCT

- ➤ On April 30, the Mesa County Treasurer’s Office warned residents that fake text messages showing a bill amount are not official and urged them to delete the messages immediately — official tax communications come by mail or trusted email. The Business Times

- ➤ The Integrated Addiction Medicine Clinic in Grand Junction will launch its Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program in June to help teens aged 14-18 improve their mental health—this eight-week program features group, individual and family therapy and has accepted referrals since May 1. - ➤ MarillacHealth's new health center on 526 29 1/2 Road is nearing completion as crews plan to move staff from the main clinic in about 120 days.
