- ➤ First responders from Grand Junction's fire, police, and communications centers practiced critical emergency skills at the Grand Junction Regional Airport on Wednesday. - ➤ On May 9, hundreds visited the historic Union Depot on National Train Day to celebrate its 120th anniversary (built in 1906) and railroad heritage. Restoration plans include a new roof and redevelopment to welcome Amtrak and create a public space in Grand Junction. KJCT

- ➤ Central High School senior Trevor McCarty has been awarded the 2026 County Sheriffs of Colorado scholarship for his academic achievements and community involvement. - ➤ The town of Silt has moved to level two water restrictions amid an ongoing drought. Outdoor watering is limited to 24 minutes (odd-even rules apply) with no watering on Fridays or between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. KJCT
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ A bipartisan bill would fund wildlife safe crossings with a voluntary $5 fee on vehicle registration and is awaiting Gov. Polis's action; if approved it will start next January and raise about $2 million to reduce wildlife vehicle collisions. Grand Junction Daily Sentinel
