- ➤ Scout Dylan Hand, 17, launched a pet toy donation drive at Petco + Chow Down Pet Supplies + Roice-Hurst Humane Society to support shelter animals and earn his eagle rank; donations will be accepted on an ongoing basis. KKCO 11
- ➤ On Friday, local golfers gathered at Bookcliff County Club for the first annual Mia Strong Golf Classic, which raised funds for an inclusive playground and enhancements at Holy Catholic School (inspired by four-year-old Mia Celayeta, who lives with AMC disorder). KJCT

- ➤ The Art Center of Western Colorado is raising $250,000 through its TLC for TAC campaign to update its building — including roof repairs, exterior repainting, lighting and new art installations — to support arts groups. - ➤ The city announced several traffic projects beginning this week — lane restrictions on 24 Rd, a Crosby Ave closure until September, and temporary closures on other streets with detours in place. Drivers should allow extra travel time and follow posted directions. City of Grand Junction

- ➤ Mesa County Public Health named Dr. Kathryn Spangler its new Medical Director starting June 1 to guide infectious disease response and reproductive health services (replacing retiring Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald). Mesa County
- ➤ The American Red Cross of Western Colorado will host blood drives from May 20 to 22 at Gypsum Rec Center, Grand Junction West Stake Center, and Eagle County Paramedic Services to boost local blood supplies. Donors can track donations on the Red Cross app (which shows where blood is used). KKCO 11
- ➤ Mesa County Public Health Department issued a food safety alert Monday about Straus Family Creamery ice cream that might contain metal fragments sold in Mesa County and advised buyers to check freezers for best by dates (Dec. 23 to Dec. 30) and discard any affected products. KKCO 11

- ➤ Grand Junction city council reviewed a draft housing action plan on May 18 calling for 6,937 new units by 2036 to meet rising demand after COVID's cost spikes. The city invested $12 million to build apartments and smaller homes and offers down payment help (for first time buyers). KKCO 11
