  • On Friday, KREX News joined Nexstar’s annual Founder’s Day of Caring by volunteering at the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens—helping STRiVE employees improve the space and connect with the community. CRIME NEWS

  • Barry Morphew, whose wife Suzanne Morphew’s remains were found over three years after she went missing on Mother’s Day, was re-arrested Friday in Arizona on suspicion of first-degree murder—following a Colorado grand jury indictment after his earlier charges were dropped.  KJCT
  • The Montrose County Sheriff’s Office is seeking help in finding runaway 15-year-old Analyiah Alice Marie Thompson Scholtes, who was reported missing by her parents between 11:15 p.m. June 16 and 11:15 a.m. June 17 after leaving the 60000 block of LaSalle Road, and locals are urged to call 911 with any information.  KKCO 11

CULTURE NEWS

  • The CoComelon Sing-A-Long LIVE tour will take place at Asteria Theatre on November 30 with tickets starting at $20 and the performance set to begin at 2 p.m.—the 80-minute show is designed to offer a fun live experience for families.  WesternSlopeNow.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Grand Junction Air Center Tanker Base at the regional airport coordinates air and ground resources to fight wildfires along the I-70 corridor and works with federal and state teams to plan prescribed burns and employ drone technology for safer operations - it is also constructing an 8-000 square foot new building funded by the Great American Outdoors Act that is expected to open next fire season.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel

HEALTH NEWS

  • As Grand Junction faces over 100 degree heat today, Mesa County officials warn that pavement may reach 140 degrees—using the back of your hand to test can help determine if it is too hot for pets.
