ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ US 40 was closed after a vehicle fire between milepost 3 at Dinosaur and milepost 11 at Blue Mountain — both lanes were shut while the Colorado State Patrol advised drivers to take CO-64 as a detour. KKCO 11
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ After months of review, the District Attorney ruled that Officer Baldwin will not face charges for his deadly force on January 19 when he fired his rifle after warning suspect Aaron Blount—whose fatal wound was seen as preventing further harm—to protect his fellow officers. KKCO 11
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ Ryan Mead, a 19-year-old Australian country artist studying at Berklee selected as the 2025 Featured Country Artist by the Berklee Popular Music Institute, performed at Country Jam in Grand Junction. He said the scenic mountains and energetic crowd made the festival special—his band quickly bonded and he plans a six-week tour in Australia before returning to tour across the United States. KKCO 11
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Hilltop Fire was declared contained by 8 p.m. Saturday and the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office transitioned the scene to a (Type 4 Incident Command) on Sunday as fire crews patrolled and mopped up the area. Evacuations were lifted so residents returned home and (stage 1 fire restrictions) remain in unincorporated areas with full control expected by 8 p.m. Sunday. KKCO 11

- ➤ Colorado officials presented a plan in Grand Junction that would base water releases from Lake Powell on a three-year average of natural flow at Lee Ferry — a supply-driven approach aimed at setting a water budget amid ongoing drought and low reservoir levels.
