  • Market on Main, presented by St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, kicks off today and will run every Thursday until Sept. 25.   • Police officers from Grand Junction met with youth who lost a parent in the line of duty during a Concerns of Police Survivors event—listening to the stories of 15—20-year-olds and reflecting on the challenges of loss.   • A car fire erupted before 3:30 p.m. yesterday near 6th Street and South Avenue in downtown Grand Junction + firefighters arrived shortly after and quickly brought the blaze under control amid dense black smoke.  KJCT

  • Saturday night, a benefit concert in tribute to late musician Chris Bollman will be held at Warehouse25sixty-five Kitchen + Bar with doors opening at 6 p.m. The event will feature live music by El Camino Burnout and Peach Street Revival, Colorado Mesa University presentations, an instrument drive, and a silent auction to help fund middle school band camp scholarships.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • CPW officials detected a large number of adult zebra mussels in a private water body in western Eagle County on July 3 and sent samples for DNA confirmation to guide future eradication efforts. Further testing at Highline Lake State Park and the Colorado River revealed zebra mussel veligers, prompting enhanced boat inspection protocols — measures aimed at curbing the invasive species spread.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The City of Grand Junction is relaunching its Almost Home Guide as a free, biweekly rental listing resource managed by the Housing Division as part of the At Home in GJ program—this guide will help residents and landlords access available or upcoming rental units updated on the first and third Tuesday of each month. The submission form is set to go live mid-July with the first updated guide released in early August, and a GIS-integrated interactive map is planned for future updates.  City of Grand Junction
  • A road resurfacing project on Colorado 141 in Gateway began Monday and is set to finish by the end of October. Crews will mill the road, lay a leveling asphalt layer, and update guardrails and bridge decking while workers manage single lane closures and redirect traffic with flaggers—this work aims to improve safety for local motorists and motorcyclists.  WesternSlopeNow.com

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Mesa County Public Health Department launched its new Behavioral Health Division today — it will focus on improving mental health services across Mesa County with new plans to coordinate crisis care, build workforce capacity, and address social factors affecting behavioral health.   • The Behavioral Health Administration launched LIFTS today at the Colorado State Capitol to help residents get affordable behavioral health care by connecting them with a live agent who refers them to over 250 subsidized providers — the service is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. — and aims to lower cost and access barriers.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel
