  • The 2025 Next Steps Neurodiversity Expo will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Grand Junction Convention Center—featuring vendors, resource booths, and expert presentations to support individuals, families, and employers.   • Wildfires forcing evacuations have left families in need of food and water—The Food Bank of the Rockies is using its mobile pantry to deliver supplies and is urging local donations.  KJCT

BUSINESS NEWS

  • The Downtown Cat had its grand opening on Saturday inside Dog Dynasty Grooming and Boarding with over 2,000 visitors and about 20 adoptable cats on display. Owner Tosha Long said the cat cafe will host events and remain open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. though it will close Aug. 16—17 for construction.  WesternSlopeNow.com

  • A Breeze Airways plane was diverted to Grand Junction Regional Airport after a passenger reportedly assaulted others and broke free of restraints—Grand Junction Police, Fire, and FBI responded.  WesternSlopeNow.com
  • A Breeze Airways flight en route to Los Angeles was diverted to Grand Junction yesterday after an unruly, intoxicated passenger broke free of restraints and shouted racist slurs while waving a skateboard—police took him into custody under FBI direction.  WesternSlopeNow.com

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Mesa County Child Support Services held internal training sessions as part of Child Support Awareness Month to review the application process, modifications, enforcement procedures, and referral systems for over 5,800 active cases and more than $1.3 million collected in payments; the sessions aimed to boost staff understanding and speed up family support—strengthening agency coordination.  Mesa County

  • The Mesa County Partnership for Children and Families is holding free vision, dental and hearing screenings for kids under 18 at Clifton Community Center today and August 15th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. as it partners with PrimeHealth+ and Adventure Vision to help children succeed.  KJCT
