  • Families using their Colorado EBT card at Mesa County farmers markets can get free fruits and vegetables and support local farmers through the Double Up Food Bucks program—which matches SNAP purchases dollar-for-dollar up to $20 daily and $60 monthly by having shoppers visit the info booth before buying. The program is available at Downtown Grand Junction Market on Main, Palisade Farmers Market, and Fruita Farmers Market.  Mesa County

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Andrew Golike, Gary De Young and Kyle Coltrinari were elected to Grand Valley Power's board of directors and will serve three-year terms with the electric cooperative serving over 16,500 members. They will join six incumbent directors at today's board meeting—vote totals were 1,658 for Coltrinari, 1,521 for Golike and 1,251 for De Young, with ballots tabulated by a local CPA firm.  The Business Times

CRIME NEWS

  • Patrick James Sneddon pleaded guilty on August 19th to three counts of vehicular homicide for killing two CDOT workers and his wife—he is set for sentencing on October 9th with a range of 4 to 30 years in jail plus parole and a $39,000 restitution payment.  KKCO 11
  • A 40-year-old woman broke into her ex-boyfriend's house on Dahlia Drive in Grand Junction by breaking a window and damaging a parked car + she fled the scene before police chased her and arrested her after a short car chase, and she now faces charges at Mesa County jail.  KKCO 11

HEALTH NEWS

  • Dr. Stacy Henderson of Community Hospital has begun offering the new FDA-approved MENTOR MemoryGel Enhance breast implants, which are the first option designed for women with larger bodies after a mastectomy. The implants (ranging from 930 cc to 1,445 cc) expand reconstruction choices for patients who previously had limited options.  The Business Times
  • Mesa County Public Health confirmed two measles cases in Grand Junction, the first in over twenty years, and pulled extra staff + enhanced monitoring to trace the virus and stop its spread. Officials advise residents to get the MMR vaccine to stay protected while efforts to contain the outbreak continue.  KKCO 11
  • Dr. Stacy Henderson with Community Hospital’s Grand Valley Plastic Surgery performed Colorado’s first MENTOR MemoryGel Enhanced Breast Implants, giving women nearly 1400cc for reconstruction plus more tailored options after mastectomy.  KJCT
  • Mesa County Public Health added three new free naloxone kiosks at Orchard Mesa, Palisade, and Collbran last Monday — raising the total to 12 access points across the county.   • Acupuncturist Ryan Powell moved his practice to a smaller office at 2505 Foresight Circle, Unit D last month—he did this to lower rising rent costs while keeping treatments affordable for patients seeking relief from pain and stress. He now uses both acupuncture and guided PEMF therapy and is not taking referrals due to his full schedule.  The Business Times
  • Intermountain Health introduced a new outpatient program for teens battling addiction that started in June and offers individual—group—family therapy to help manage emotions and build healthy relationships. The eight-week program was partly funded by a nearly one-million-dollar grant from the Mesa County Opioid Abatement Council, The Steadman Group, and the state and now provides local care that used to require travel to Denver or Salt Lake City.  KKCO 11
