- ➤ All Mesa County Valley School District 51 schools earned either a Performance or an Improvement rating on Colorado’s state report card this school year—marking the first time every school in the district avoided lower marks; the district credited teachers, administrators and students for this success and now aims for 90% of its schools to earn a Performance rating by 2030. - ➤ Gear Junction and RiversEdge West are partnering to clean up the Grand Valley River on September 13 with volunteers meeting at designated spots in the morning — organizers advise wearing gloves, water, sturdy shoes and sun protection to keep our drinking water safe and the ecosystem thriving. - ➤ Mesa County Treasurer Sheila Reiner announced she will resign her elected role effective Sept. 9 due to county policy separating the treasurer and finance director roles and will serve as acting finance director—Mesa County Commissioners will appoint her successor to serve as treasurer through December until a new election is held. - ➤ Mesa County commissioners approved a $100,000 increase to the Japanese beetle eradication contract on Tuesday to fund Acelepryn treatments for properties within 200 meters of new traps (the treatment is offered at no cost to eligible property owners). KJCT
