- ➤ Grand Junction volunteers built beds on September 13 as part of Bunks Across America—Sleep in Heavenly Peace event that gives free beds to children 3 to 17. The chapter’s 58 volunteers and ten core members marked a three-year effort by delivering its 400th bed—boosting local support for families in need. KKCO 11

- ➤ Colorado Parks and Wildlife confirmed that adult zebra mussels were found in West and East Lake and in the side channel joining the Colorado River after initial tests detected veliger DNA on Aug 28 and adult specimens on Sept 2—officials now classify the river as infested from the 32 Road bridge to the Colorado-Utah border. - ➤ The Workforce Center in Mesa County has a DVOP Specialist who helps eligible veterans with career guidance, job search assistance, and interview preparation—providing personalized support to overcome work barriers. - ➤ The City of Grand Junction finished reconfiguring Fourth Street from Ute Avenue to Grand Avenue to restore its original layout and improve safety—City Council voted on August 20 to make similar changes on Fifth Street. - ➤ Mesa County officials announced that children in grades 1-12 may submit one sticker design featuring 'I voted' on a two-inch by two-inch artwork for the 2026 contest which will accept entries until October 31 — top designs will be chosen for resident voting in December with an official winner announced in January.
