- ➤ Local chef Willy Tuz of Colorado Fruit Designs will compete on Food Network’s Halloween Wars as the new season premieres this Sunday at 7 p.m. MST—he was a finalist on Outrageous Pumpkins in 2020 and appeared on Halloween Wars in 2022 and is known for his pumpkin carvings. KKCO 11

- ➤ On September 12, three Congressmen wrote a letter to Governor Polis asking him to call a special session on public safety because they believe bills like House Bill 24-1034 and Senate Bill 21-271 have weakened sentencing rules and increased risks by allowing early release. The letter comes as Gov. Polis works with local law enforcement to address vandalism—aiming to improve community safety. KJCT
- ➤ At a City Council workshop on September 15, Colorado Mesa University presented early ideas to upgrade Stocker Stadium at Lincoln Park—staff will now work on how the improvements can benefit the community. - ➤ Mesa County Public Health released its annual suicide report which shows about 50 residents die each year and that men face a fatality rate three times higher than women—more than half of the deaths involve firearms and health leaders will use these findings to guide prevention efforts. KJCT
- ➤ GLP-1 medications like Ozempic and Wegovy help people lose weight but experts warn they are not quick fixes and may cause dry mouth that can lead to dental decay + rapid weight loss may also cause signs of early aging.
