- ➤ The Confluence Center of Colorado at 2600 Dos Rios Drive will host its grand opening Nov. 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.—six local nonprofits will lead activities like a paper chain cutting by STREAM Preschool students, building tours, a river time capsule, and seedball making. Light snacks and refreshments will be served to welcome the community and show how the new space will support local needs for decades. The Business Times
- ➤ GVIN will host Fall Food Fest on Oct. 18 from 9-11:30 a.m. at the Downtown Vineyard Church east parking lot to collect non-perishable food for five local charities + grocery bags with lists can be picked up earlier from local centers. - ➤ London is a two-month-old Scottish Fold kitten available for adoption at the Roice-Hurst Humane Society, and her sister Paris is also ready for a home since kittens do best in pairs. The shelter will hold fee-waived adoption events on Oct. 4 and Oct. 6 to help the kittens find families. KKCO 11
- ➤ On Tuesday, the Grand Junction Lions Club awarded $42,500 in grants at Warehouse 25sixtyfive — giving $25,000 to Colorado Discover Ability for a new Adventure Van, $10,000 to the Community Food Bank for upgrading the 7th Street Community Cafe, and $7,500 to Broadway Elementary School to support its new playground. - ➤ James Montoya rebranded his family-owned café in downtown Fruita from Camilla’s Kaffe to KJ’s—named after his two children—to preserve local traditions and serve New Mexico themed dishes using local ingredients. The restaurant will adjust its hours to offer dinner Tuesday-Saturday and breakfast and lunch Wednesday-Sunday, and it will host a grand re-opening with a Chamber ribbon cutting on Friday. KJCT

- ➤ The Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Fruita Police Department are asking the community for help to find missing 13-year-old Aiden Edwards who was last seen riding his blue bike at 9:30 p.m. Monday from the 200 block of Hollyberry Way in Fruita wearing a pink T-shirt, black hoodie and black sweatpants. - ➤ Mesa County and the Colorado Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management invite local non-agricultural producers and supplier businesses impacted by the Turner Gulch Fire to complete a Business Impact Survey that gathers details on lost revenue, staffing shortages, and property damage such as fire, ash, and post-fire flooding—responses are due by Oct. 14. - ➤ Grand Valley Transit will start a new bus route, Route12, on October 6 that connects its West Transport facility near Mesa Mall to North Avenue—doubling bus frequency and offering free rides until the end of 2025. KKCO 11

- ➤ Local health officials report that although youth tobacco use is down nationwide, it remains high in Mesa County due to easy access and secondhand smoke exposure—officials are discussing a local retail license to enforce age restrictions.
