New SNAP funding changes took effect — Mesa County food banks are preparing to help residents who might lose benefits or struggle with rising food costs, and Clifton Christian Church Food Bank will adjust service hours to meet increasing demands.

The Grand Junction Airshow will take place on Saturday and Sunday starting at 10:30 a.m. in Grand Junction; Blue Angels are set to perform around 2:30 p.m., and sunny skies with warm temperatures mean visitors should bring sunscreen + hats.

Local Ute leader Roland McCook is urging Grand Junction to create a memorial in front of the old Teller Institute (a Native boarding school) to honor the children who died and were never found.

He said the memorial would help recognize a painful part of local history.

Gov. Jared Polis and Colorado Creative Industries awarded 187 Colorado Creates Grants on Tuesday, Sept.

29 to arts organizations across 33 counties, including Mesa, Delta, Montrose, and Garfield counties; the grants range from $6,000 to $14,000 and support local programs like the Grand Junction Symphony Orchestra.
