- ➤ Grand Junction City Council is finalizing a two-year strategic plan that focuses on updating its Comprehensive Plan, improving public safety, affordable housing and infrastructure — they will soon vote on the plan while launching a funding opportunity of up to $500,000 a year for transitional housing and support for unhoused neighbors. - ➤ Colorado employee unions said a government shutdown that began on October 2 put thousands of federal workers at risk of layoffs and deepened state budget shortfalls—Diane Byrne of Colorado WINS warned that cuts to federal grants for roads, health, and water services could further strain local emergency services on the western slope. - ➤ Delta County Public Health said residents should get vaccines for Covid-19, the flu, RSV for seniors and the pneumonia vaccine for people 50 and older as flu and respiratory season begins.
