  • Local roasters Colorado Legacy and Roastiva are raising prices as coffee costs jump from $6.3 to $8.8 per pound due to global supply issues—harsh weather, tariffs, and shipping changes are at play. They are reaching out to more suppliers and keeping customers informed as they adjust to these rising costs.  KJCT

CULTURE NEWS

  • Downtown Grand Junction hosted its 10th annual Downtown Art Festival on Main Street on October 4, where more than 9,000 people enjoyed booths with paintings, photography, and handmade crafts along with live art demonstrations. The event also featured a train art show at the Union Depot and unveiled 21 new public art sculptures downtown—highlighting the community’s creative spirit.  KJCT

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Since last year, the Colorado West Land Trust has permanently conserved eight sites that support water security for farms, wildlife, and communities, protecting 386 acres of riparian habitat, 1,806 acres of farmland, and over 30 miles of rivers across the region. The group finished 13 weeks of work in Glade Park and will restore over 130 acres of riparian and wetland land along the North Fork of the Gunnison starting in November—thinning vegetation near the Plateau Creek Canal to lower wildfire risk.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel
  • CPW workers found two mussels during end-of-season work at Highline Lake and sent them to a lab to test for zebra mussels. The finding adds to past discoveries that have troubled the lake & led to plans such as a dip tank next boating season and ongoing sampling in the Colorado River.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel

  • The City Council is finalizing a strategic plan that prioritizes public safety, affordable housing, and updated infrastructure—efforts that include reviewing the Comprehensive Plan, addressing staffing needs at Fire Station 7, and supporting local homeless service providers.
