- ➤ Bella Bear, a nine-year-old senior black lab that loves snacks and play time, is available for adoption at Roice-Hurst Humane Society — she gets along with other dogs and adapts well to new homes. KKCO 11
- ➤ The Confluence Center announced it will host the Run for Rivers on Nov. 8 at 10 a.m. along the Riverfront Trail in Grand Junction as a family-friendly fundraiser with a 5K run/walk, a 1K Fun Run for kids & activities like a nature scavenger hunt and art project. The run will start & finish at the new center on Dos Rios Drive where all 5K participants will receive a commemorative T-shirt. The Business Times

- ➤ AV Solutions moved from its old I-70 Business Loop space to a new location at 215 S. 15th St.—tripling its space from 900 to 2,880 square feet and adding a showroom and conference room. Owner Neil Hajoglou said the expansion will allow the business room for future buildouts and improved customer access. The Business Times
- ➤ Several car washes opened in Grand Junction as Club Car Wash and Champion Xpress use attendants for friction tunnels — and Van’s Car Wash and Stop Wash Go offer touch-free service — to cater to different vehicles and strengthen local competition. The Business Times

- ➤ Following the Evergreen High School shooting, Safe2Tell received nearly 4,000 reports in September about school safety, bullying and mental health (only 1% were proven false), and Attorney General Phil Wieser said the high number shows that many people reported potential harm to students. KJCT
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Over 80 NumWorks calculators were delivered to Mesa County high schools thanks to a donation from the Grand Junction Lions Club and matching funds from School District 51 (D51), giving students equal access to solid math tools. - ➤ Grand Valley Power notified its members on Oct. 9 that rates will increase effective Nov. 1 due to rising costs of materials and energy — the new General Service Time-of-Use/Demand plan adds a grid connectivity charge and a demand fee that are expected to raise the average monthly bill by about 4%. - ➤ College mountain bikers from coast-to-coast gathered at Powderhorn Mountain Resort for the USA Cycling Collegiate Mountain Bike National Championships, where families cheered as CMU clinched its sixth consecutive team title — a win marked by strong performances in cross country, dual slalom, and downhill — while challenging weather added to the event’s intensity.
