ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Colorado State Patrol warns drivers that drowsy driving is impaired driving; 627 crashes have been reported so far this year—696 happened last year and 149 crashes involved drivers aged 16 to 21, so Sergeant Ivan Alvarado told drivers to pull over, stretch, or take a nap when they feel tired.  KKCO 11

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Grand Junction High School Hall of Fame Committee chose Ron Leitch, a celebrated athlete from the Class of 1958 who excelled in track, football and basketball, but they have not been able to contact him so far. Committee member Roy Coca said if no family member comes forward by Nov. 9, his induction will be postponed to next year + he urges anyone with information to call him.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel

SPORTS NEWS

  • Nearly 600 runners completed the 29th Rim Rock Marathon and Half Marathon yesterday on a route through the Colorado National Monument—breaking the event's record turnout—and money raised supported the local track club while helping build the Grand Junction Sports Commission for future races.  KJCT
