- ➤ Local community members met Thursday night in Fruita to discuss Mesa County homelessness as panelists explained that 85% of residents were only two paychecks from homelessness—leaders noted that women over 50 made up the fastest growing group among the unhoused and called for coordinated efforts on housing, mental health, and economic challenges. - ➤ Toys“R”Us will open a permanent store in Mesa Mall in Grand Junction in the former Joann location in the Dick’s Sporting Goods wing and may open as soon as tomorrow—before Black Friday. The store will then close for a few weeks in Q1 to update its space before reopening as a full Toys“R”Us location. The Business Times
- ➤ BIC is hosting its Holiday Expo today from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the BIC Campus — 2591 Legacy Way — in Grand Junction, transforming the area into an outdoor European-style marketplace where local entrepreneurs, vendors and Santa Claus highlight small businesses. - ➤ The Colorado Water Conservation Board voted unanimously on Wednesday to accept a joint offer from the Colorado River District and Public Service Company of Colorado for the Shoshone water rights that will protect the Colorado River and create the largest environmental water right in state history—water court must now confirm the agreement. - ➤ The Bureau of Land Management announced it will start winter range closures on Dec. 1—restricting motorized use on select lands while keeping many trails open for hiking and horseback riding.
