Palisade hosted its annual Art and Chocolate Walk on November 29 that brought about 600 visitors to local shops and galleries—business owners said the event boosted sales on Small Business Saturday.
Participants met local artists, sampled chocolate, and collected punches for a drawing of gift baskets, and organizers expect the event to grow in future years.
On Black Friday, shoppers lined up before dawn outside Triple Play Records (530 Main St) in downtown Grand Junction to buy rare, limited edition vinyl records including a Dead Milkmen album (only two copies available) pressed in colored vinyl for its 40th anniversary.
Store manager Matthew Cesario said the event drew collectors who valued exclusive finds over typical deep discounts.
