JP Carriage Service will offer free horse-drawn carriage rides every weekend until Christmas on Main Street to give families and visitors a nostalgic look at local heritage.
The rides run Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 3 p.m. (pickup is at the corner of 4th Street and Main Street) and will let riders learn about the city’s history.
On November 30, hundreds of motor enthusiasts gathered at Canyon View Park for a car show honoring 8-year-old Danial Beckner, who was diagnosed with a fast-growing brain tumor—doctors said he had six months to live last year but he continues fighting.
Family friends and local car clubs organized the event and the community shared messages of love to support his family.

Colorado Mesa University professor Johanna Varner, a pika expert, will attend the United Nations Environmental Assembly in Nairobi Dec.
8-12 to show how citizen science supports global air quality and biodiversity efforts (her work on a scientific app and rainforest project led to her selection).
