  • Moon Farm is lighting up winter nights with a free holiday drive through and designated walkthrough display every night from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. until Christmas at 1360 18 1/2 Road; local sponsorship makes the festive event free and donation-optional, inviting families to enjoy the tradition.  KKCO 11
  • AAA warns that holiday travel is expected to exceed last year's 660,000 motorists through the Eisenhower Tunnels — heavy congestion on I‑70 is forecast. ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Junct’n Square Pizza food truck caught fire early Friday at 12th Street and Ute Avenue and was closed temporarily — firefighters quickly put out the blaze with no injuries while the restaurant continues its planned move downtown.  KJCT

  • Fruita Gelato Company opened on December 13 in Fruita bringing authentic Italian gelato to the Grand Valley. The family owned business, led by Bridget Legg who brings 35 years of restaurant experience, sources its gelato directly from Italy and is located at 156 Park Square.  KJCT

CULTURE NEWS

  • A hundred years ago on Dec. 14, 1925, three buffalo arrived at Colorado National Monument as superintendent John Otto worked to create a game preserve in Grand Valley. The small herd grew to 45 before management challenges and environmental concerns led to its removal in 1983.  Grand Junction Daily Sentinel

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Clifton Fire Chief Brian Cherveny said the nearly complete Highway 6 project is causing longer response times when emergency vehicles must use a single lane and raised crossovers (up to 20 seconds delay) as they navigate the roundabout.   • Mesa County Department of Human Services discussed the LEAP energy assistance program on KAFM’s Community Affairs segment; the seasonal program offers help with winter heating costs from Nov. 1 through April 30 to households meeting income and residency requirements.  Mesa County
  • County leaders celebrated the six-mile paving of 18 Road in North Fruita Desert today.
