- ➤ Mutual Aid hosted its weekly community distribution on Tuesday at 402 Grand Ave, featuring Santa and free toys for children (no sign-up needed). The event also offered pet vaccines, haircuts, scarves, and other services to help local families prepare for Christmas. KJCT
- ➤ Dan, an 11-month-old Doberman mix (nearly 45 lbs) is looking for a forever hiking buddy and is available for adoption; visit him this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Chow Down Pet Supplies during the Dog Adoption Event. KJCT

- ➤ Local business The Social Swing, launched in November by Nic and Tegan Hansen, brings a mobile golf simulator to events on the Western Slope. The service offers custom packages for weddings, fundraisers, and more at $175 per hour (with 1,600 courses available). The Business Times

- ➤ At the Grand Junction Chamber of Commerce’s Economic Outlook event on Dec. 15, experts forecast Mesa County’s economy will remain steady in 2026, supported by diversified sectors and sustained business investments recognized in 2025. - ➤ Colorado’s Universal Preschool Program reached record enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year, offering children up to 15 hours of free preschool statewide. - ➤ At a Dec. 16 meeting, District 51 officials reported enrollment dropped by over 2,700 students (a 12% loss) since 2019–20 and outlined financial challenges. - ➤ Grand Junction’s Housing Affordability Task Force has asked the city to evaluate the cost impacts of new building codes, including a change to wider sidewalks, to boost affordability for lower-priced homes. Developer Ron Abeloe said these increases add around $5,000 per lot and may shift focus from entry-level houses. The Business Times
- ➤ Mesa County wrapped up improvements on 18 Road this month by widening six miles and adding paved shoulders and better drainage for cyclists, equestrians, and recreation users.
