CRIME NEWS
- ➤ The Colorado Bureau of Investigation is investigating a possible murder-suicide in Grass Mesa after deputies responded on July 12 to a domestic violence call that led to the discovery of 53-year-old Melinda Rose and 46-year-old Ryan Rose dead, with authorities investigating her death as homicide and his as suicide—two firearms were recovered at the scene. - ➤ The Turner Gulch wildfire neared 14,000 acres on the Western Slope— a nearby fire at Wright Draw reached 448 acres as firefighters built containment lines and closed roads along Highway 141 near Gateway. Fire crews worked under hot, dry conditions and held a community meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Gateway Community Center to update residents on safety measures. WesternSlopeNow.com
- ➤ Wildfire crews in Western Colorado are battling five fires that expanded overnight and will grow today as wind gusts between 20 and 25 mph make containment more difficult while new evacuation orders have been issued for Highway 141 with residents directed to seek shelter at the Clifton Community Center. A community meeting to update on the Turner Gulch and Wright Draw fires is scheduled for 6 p.m. tonight at the Gateway Community Center. KKCO 11
